Judy said she wasn’t sure and asked what certification would entail and if it would help them sell more rabbits. The inspector responded, telling her it would involve monthly inspections and was completely voluntary. The inspection ended with the inspector telling Judy that the Dollarhites rabbits looked healthy and well-cared for. "
Yes, I've heard the same words the Dollarhites heard; from a trusted auditor. We were reassured several times, "this audit is completely voluntary". The GAP audit is voluntary, but what are the consequences of sharing your animal ag procedures with HSUS?
As animal ag producers/ pet owners/ hunters/ etc. it is imperative that we ask questions, be alert, be aware and educate ourselves. Today the enemy may be wearing recognizable uniforms that look like ours, so they must be "one of us"--- our friend, our buddy. Don't count on it. Don't Let Your Guard Down.

I know I promised more on Agenda 21 today, but the Dollarhite's won out. It was such a compelling story and could happen to any of us...too close to home for me.
